There is another route which goes via a small village called Muthuvan kudi, this route is most scenic compared to the central station one, when you start the trek from kurangani, after 5 minutes a point will come where you can see two routes, right one is an off road with stones and the left one is a tar road. The left route will take you to top station via Muthuvan kudi village.
We started at morning 10 from kurangani and reached the top station at evening 5. We have camped near the view point, Here are few photos with details

Un explored water falls near the trail, there is not proper trail to this water falls from the main trek trail, you have to go through bushes in the direction of falls to reach it, it is a very beautiful falls, perfect for swimming, but very deep |

Muthuvan kudi village, Sunday afternoon, no work, all the villagers gathered under tree |
Very good post. Really like it.
ReplyDeleteYour post is the main reason for arranging a trek to Kolukkumalai. I'm planning to visit Kolukkumalai with my friends (8, as of now) at the end of August.
Actually its a three day plan and the last day is planned for Vagamon, so the trek will be first two days.
As per the info got from your blog, i have made my mind to visit kolukkumalai from Kurangani via Muthuvan Kudi village. Could you please help me plan the trek.
Have few questions in my mind. You have mentioned that guide is not necessary for trek.
Since we are all new to that place, isn't difficult?
I thought of following the same plan as you mentioned here. Starting from Kurangani to Top Station to Suryanelli to Kolukkumala to Messapulimala to Kolukkumala to Korangani.
Is the above fine, if not , please correct it. Also, we are planning to come by our own car. Hope we get a place in Korangani to park.
Hii..sorry for the late reply(some how missed your comment)...did you go to this trek ??
